Project Highlights
This financial year brought about many opportunities across all our regions; some highlight projects being:

< Jewel (Gold Coast)
We are currently assisting with landscape works as the Jewel project nears completion. We’ve all been impressed with the modern lines and unique, towering design that has now emerged over the Surfers Paradise skyline. It has been a rewarding experience to have been involved from the outset on this iconic project.
Barneson Boulevard (Darwin)
The Barneson Boulevard extension has been a vital piece of missing infrastructure in the Darwin CBD and we’re honoured to be part of the project, working with Territoria Civil.
Queens Wharf (Brisbane) >
After 15 months of excavation, the build has now begun at this major integrated resort development on the Brisbane River with the first concrete pour. During this time, we’ve been reporting on the amount of material being removed from the site on a monthly basis and we’ve achieved this with regular laser scanning captures.
Gold Coast Light Rail (Gold Coast)
A very interesting project that has allowed us to further refine our expertise in representing underground services in 3D. We were invited to laser scan the inside of over 400 manholes along the proposed stage 3A light rail line, in additional to laser scanning buildings and features along the route. The result was a fantastic 3D representation of both underground and above features which has been very beneficial to designers working on the project.

< Sunshine Plaza Redevelopment
(Sunshine Coast)
In March, the official opening of Sunshine Plaza’s $440 million redevelopment was unveiled. Bennett + Bennett worked with Lendlease on the set out of new construction and all building lease plans.
Notable Achievement: APSEA – Oceanic Award Winner
In April, we were awarded the Asia – Pacific Spatial Excellence Award for Technical Excellence at a gala event held in Melbourne. Myself and our Scanning Capability Manager, Liam Thierens, were there to accept the award in front of our peers from across Australia, Asia and the Pacific. It was very humbling to be awarded this honor and be recognized by our peers for the great work undertaken by our Scanning and Photogrammetry teams… see more

Looking Forward…
There are a number of fantastic projects commencing in the near future in SEQ, particularly in Brisbane. Over the next 6 months, we’ll see the early signs of structures being built at Queen’s Wharf and tunnel boring machines making their way towards the city from Wolloongabba on the Cross River Rail project. The Brisbane Metro will also be very close to commencing and these projects will be the catalyst for further development in and around Brisbane city. Opportunities will present for developers to be involved in emerging areas around these projects, particularly in the Wolloongabba and Roma Street areas.
We also see a number of substantial infrastructure projects planned for the Gold and Sunshine Coasts including the light rail systems in both these regions, the Gold Coast Ocean Terminal project and the Beerburrum to Landsborough Rail Duplication project. These projects are essential to the continued growth of the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast regions and we encourage all levels of government to commit to these in SEQ City Deal considerations.
With the recent Federal election out of the way, we’re starting to see a renewed confidence emerge in the property development sector in SEQ and we’ve very busy fielding enquiries for our Development Site Study and Town Planning Services.
If you’re looking for your next development site, then please talk to us about these services.
