At Bennett + Bennett, we know that good drafting is more than just drawing lines on a plan - it’s about accuracy, efficiency, and making life easier for our clients. Whether we’re mapping out unit entitlements, showing where services are located, or preparing plans for contracts, every detail needs to be spot on. That’s why our drafting team recently took part in a training day to refine our processes and improve the custom tools we use.
A big part of our job is preparing Unit Lot Calculation Plans, which form the backbone of our Contract Plan Sets. These sets include:
•
Draft Building Format Plans – showing how a development is divided into lots.
•
Exclusive Use Plans – marking out areas allocated to specific units.
•
Service Location Plans – making sure essential services like water and power are clearly mapped.
These plans aren’t just technical documents - they help developers disclose lot entitlements for sales and ensure everything is properly accounted for.
Drafting is always evolving, and with developments becoming more complex, we’re constantly looking for better, faster, and smarter ways to work. Our training days give us a chance to collaborate, troubleshoot, and refine how we do things. They’re a great opportunity to share ideas, discuss challenges, and make sure we’re all on the same page.
"These training days encourage discussion and promote collaboration, ensuring our team remains at the forefront of industry best practices," said Adam Sokac, Drafting Manager. “By regularly reviewing our processes, we can reduce inefficiencies, minimise errors, and improve the overall experience for our clients. Whether we’re working on a small townhouse project or a large-scale mixed-use development, we want to deliver clear, accurate, and compliant plans every time.”
We’re always looking for ways to improve, and these training sessions play a big role in keeping our team at the top of their game. The better our processes, the smoother things run for our clients—and that’s always our goal.
