PROPERTY development and construction services company Bennett + Bennett will take a larger slice of the southeast Queensland market after merging with longstanding Sunshine Coast business Skyline Surveyors. The merger doubles the size of the company’s Sunshine Coast operations and takes Bennett + Bennett closer to its ambitious growth target of 200 staff by 2026, as well as boosting revenue growth.

Managing director Mark Billsborough said the merged entity, which will remain Bennett + Bennett, was now one of the largest privately-owned surveying and spatial services companies in the region.

“We’re excited to join forces with Skyline to ensure we can increase our capability to deliver for our customers,” he said. “Having operated in the region for more than 10 years, this merger further strengthens our ability to deliver efficient and effective development consulting and surveying services on the Sunshine Coast and further afield. ”

Established in 1968 on the Gold Coast, Bennett + Bennett operates five divisions across four offices on the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Northern Rivers region in NSW. In line with a wave of new construction projects, the company has had its revenue increase by 30 per cent in the past year and 67 per cent since 2017. It is involved in private and public sector projects with an end project value of more than $15bn.

The entire Skyline Surveyors team will join Bennett + Bennett’s Sunshine Coast office, taking the total number of staff across the group to 150. Skyline Surveyors owner Corey James, who has come on board as a project manager, said the merger was a natural fit.

“This new partnership will allow our businesses to pool skills, resources and technology, which will only benefit our customers. It will also free up capacity across Bennett + Bennett’s offices,” he said.

The new-look Bennett + Bennett has forecast revenue growth of 25 per cent for 2022-23 and has a growth target of 65 per cent over the five years to 2024-25. It is currently involved in more than 3600 projects and added over 200 projects in the first three months of 2022-23.

Bennett + Bennett director Ben Madden-Holmes, who heads up the Sunshine Coast office, said Mr James and his team would bring a wealth of experience and consulting expertise.

“Our commitment to our clients, our expertise and our dedication to excellent project outcomes is what has made Bennett + Bennett the go to surveyor on marquee projects like The Lanes Residences at Mermaid Waters, Citiswich at Ipswich, the Bulimba Barracks redevelopment and city shaping projects like Queen’s Wharf.”
