FUTURE GENERATION JV
The Snowy Hydro 2.0 project involves linking two existing dams, Tantangara and Talbingo, through 27km of tunnels and building a new underground power station. Water will be pumped to the upper dam when there is surplus renewable energy production and the demand for energy is low, and then released back to the lower dam to generate energy when electricity demand is high. Snowy 2.0 will provide an additional 2,200 megawatts of dispatchable, on-demand generating capacity and approximately 350,000 megawatt hours of large-scale storage to the National Electricity Market, and will consist of approximately 40km of tunnels including 27km power waterways with first power to be delivered in the second half or 2027. Bennett + Bennett have been providing a range of services for surface works at Tantangara and are now transitioning to underground works at Tantangara and Marica. Surface works have included the Intake Excavation, Spoil Monitoring, Roadworks & Facilities. As the underground works progress, Bennett + Bennett will be involved with TBM Guidance, Drill and Blast Tunnelling and Shaft Excavations all while continuing to support the above ground surface works.
