Back in March 2022 a large part of Byron Bay CBD flash flooded resulting in many shops being underwater. The flood levels had not been seen in the area in living memory which sparked an investigation into the town’s overall drainage network. Engeny Consulting was engaged by Byron Shire Council to come up with a new design of a stormwater network that would handle any future events of this scale & magnitude. Bennett + Bennett worked close with Engeny in providing them and council a 3D service and contour survey of most of Byron’s CBD to assist in the design stage of the project. As concept stages of the design are complete, we are now working with other contractors in potholing surveys to get to the detailed design stage. We have also been working with council to update their local GIS database as we go. This project had a mobile laser scanning and GIS component along with conventional survey.
