The Sunshine Coast has commenced its Olympics 2032 journey with works underway at the Sunshine Coast Stadium in Kawana.
Originally, survey company ‘Skyline’ (now merged with Bennett + Bennett) conducted a large scan of the Stadium for the purpose of a Stadium upgrade, well before the Olympics was locked in.

Now that the Sunshine Coast Stadium has a role in the Olympics through Football (Soccer) and Indoor basketball, the State Government has requested an expansion of our original survey and laser scanning on the site to cover a larger works program, as part of the design stage.
The construction works are planned for a 2024 start and a 2027 completion.
For the Olympic Games, the new works will allow a seating capacity of 20,000 for the Football preliminaries by creating 11,814 grandstand seats, plus there is capacity for a further 4,000 to sit on the hills at either end of the ground and a further 4,000 seats on temporary grandstands.
A new indoor Sports Centre with 11 courts and a 6,000 seat show court will also be delivered for the Basketball preliminaries.
The legacy will be fantastic facilities for the growing basketball participants, as well as a great stadium for the local Sunshine Coast Falcons Footy team and others.
