Recently, the office management of our Northern NSW Office in Mullumbimby was handed over from Scott Thompson to Marcus Hager.
In this new role of Office Manager, Marcus Hager is excited to sink his teeth into it and make the new challenges head on.
“I have Scott still here for advice if needed and I am enjoying the role, and looking forward to continuing to grow the office and our market share of the survey works in the region,” said Marcus. “I hope to help introduce our new technologies which I think will be very well received in the region and continue to provide the great service that Scott has given to the region as a legacy.”
Marcus has a strong connection to Mullumbimby, where our Northern Rivers Office is located. Marcus grew up in the area and attended Mullumbimby High School where he graduated in 2008. Marcus then went into a surveying cadetship program at Tweed Shire Council and he then worked with a Civil Engineering company NTS Group until 2016. Marcus joined Bennett + Bennett in 2016 and today Marcus lives nearby in Banora.
Marcus has steadily progressed to this level as Office Manager and Associate status on the back of hard work and Marcus recently obtained his QLD and NSW Registered Surveyor Status which required years of part-time study and commitment.
Outgoing Office Manager Scott is a very well-known local having spent his life in the region. Like Marcus, Scott also attended Mullumbimby High School and his mother was a teacher at the High School, while his dad was a teacher/principal at a local primary school called “The Pocket.”
Scott completed his surveying studies at QIT (now QUT) in Brisbane, graduating in 1990. Scott worked for a survey firm in Ballina before conducting the Survey Practice course in 1992 which led to his Survey Registration in NSW. Scott then took up a job with Canty’s Surveyors in Byron Bay and in the year 2000, Bob Canty retired and Scott bought the business.
Bennett + Bennett had been working in the Northern NSW Region for a while now and we eventually found our way to Scott’s business and purchased it in 2021. Scott has been and will continue to be a valuable asset to our organisation, bringing his many years of expertise into the fold.
Scott has been fantastic with great ethics and client focus, he is well known in the region and we are pleased that he is staying on as a project manager, maintaining his high level of professionalism and assisting his many clients on their projects. The extra bonus is that the team in this office is busy and growing and with Scott we were fortunate to engage and employ Scott’s wife Sharon (PM Assistant, Drafting) and his son Nathan who is a promising surveyor and they make up part of our 10 member team in the area.
“I’m looking forward to stepping back a little, but not too far…and assisting Marcus in his new role,” said Scott.
If you are in the area looking for survey assistance in the Northern NSW region, then please give Marcus or Scott a call (07 5631 8000).
