Bennett + Bennett completed two Queensland Rail Station upgrades at Alderley and Newmarket, Brisbane. The upgrades enabled access for disabled passengers, whilst also raising the platform to meet the New Generation Rolling Stock floor level.
The project involved:
1. Removal of the old overpass and infrastructure.
2. Installation of new steel bridge overpasses including lifts, ramps and the laying of new coping stones and additional works.
Tolerance on the new structures was sub 5mm. This proved to be an intense phase as the overpasses were craned into position and fixed to the new towers. Setting, laying and checking of the coping stones required the use of S8 total stations and the digital level (accurate to 0.2mm).
