The proposed Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 4 is a world class public transport system for residents and visitors to the Gold Coast. The planned Stage 4 extension will extend the current light rail service by 13 kilometres. This will create a direct route from Burleigh Heads to Coolangatta and include a stop at the Gold Coast Airport. A Detail Survey was required to enable early design works. Our approach combined high-resolution Ultra Rich Aerial Lidar Survey (ALS) capture and Mobile Laser Scanning (MLS) throughout the corridor. ALS provided broader capture across the corridor. The high accuracy LiDAR was captured at 600 points per square meter and allowed feature extraction to an accuracy of +/-50mm across the corridor. In addition, an orthophoto of the complete corridor was prepared.
