Welcome to the first edition of the quarterly MD Update! I will be providing an overview of projects, events and general points of interest that Bennett + Bennett are involved in. I want to give you some insight into our culture and company.
50th Year Anniversary
2018 is a huge milestone year for Bennett + Bennett, in that this is our 50th year of operating. From humble beginnings on the Gold Coast with brothers Ted and Lin Bennett, we have grown across 2 states and 5 offices. This year we have a number of celebrations planned and will be posting photos and reviews of these as they occur.
Luke Harrop Triathlon, Gold Coast
The annual triathlon was held on Sunday 25th February and was a great chance for our part time swimmers, riders and runners within the company to compete for bragging rights against their fellow workmates. At the last minute the format was changed by organisers to a run-ride-run due to the wild weather. This effectively nullified the influence of Surveyor, Lauchy “the dolphin” Cushing and leveled the playing field which had been heavy tilted in his team’s favour for many years! It was great day and congrats to Surveyor, Ben ”The Running Man” Blackburn and Surveyor, Luke “Lance” Bartlett for taking home the prize!
International Women’s Day Celebrations
We recently celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8th. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the varying roles women play in our company and diversity they bring. I can absolutely say that we would not be where we are today without the women who have contributed to our team over the years. Thank you, all of you and especially to Lisa, Linda and Katie for their short videos discussing their journey so far!
World’s Greatest Shave
Friday 16th March we helped to raise some much needed funds for blood cancer research, whilst having a little bit of fun at our Gold Coast office. I personally kicked off the afternoon with some lovely blue hairspray teamed with glitter for added effect, covered the greys beautifully. After several other volunteers also got the once over, the atmosphere started to build leading to a couple of our long-time beard growers finding the courage to de-fleece their faces. Well done to Surveyor, Marcus Hagar and Town Planner, Keenan Dytor. Lastly, a huge shout out to Survey Assistant, Kent Scott who shaved his head showing no fear at all, except possibly what his partner was going to say when he got home.
We are privileged to be involved in some truly iconic projects…some of which include:
- Brisbane Metro, Brisbane QLD (Surveying)
- Tindal Airforce Base Upgrade, Tindal NT (Surveying)
- Larrakeyah Barracks Upgrade, Darwin NT (Surveying)
- 1 Brisbane Tower, Brisbane CBD (Town Planning)
- Sundale Bridge, Southport QLD (Laser Scanning & Surveying)
- Goldmine Road land development project (Town Planning)
- Additional Land 121 surveys at Army bases (Surveying) around Australia
Thank you for your continued business. I hope that you, and your families have a lovely Easter break and are as excited about the upcoming Commonwealth Games are we are.
