Project Description

Byron Bay Bypass

Byron Bay, NSW

Client: Byron Shire Council, Hazell Bros, Renzo Tonin

Year Completed: 2019

“The Byron Bay Bypass is a major infrastructure project that has been in the planning for over 30 years. It is now fully funded by the NSW Government ($20 million including funding from Growing Local Economies) and $4 million from Byron Shire Council.” Byron Shire Council

The Bypass will improve connectivity and traffic flow between the north and south of Byron Bay, provide an alternative route that reduces the number of cars in the town centre daily by an estimated 30 percent and prioritise pedestrians over cars in the town centre. Approximately 70 private and 20 commercial properties needed to be accounted for along the route. Bennett + Bennett were commisioned to provide full internal and external building condition reports and floor plans for each of the properties. The sensitive nature of the project for some locals required a professional and minimal impact approach for each property. As part of this project we also provided a comprehensive inspection including records of all council asssets along the road network corridor.
